Applying UBM AI + ICLguru Predictive Data for Narrower Angles

Background
A 31-year-old female patient with 2.99 mm ACD and 33.3° angle OD and 2.91 mm ACD and 29.4° angle OS. Due to the slightly narrower angle in the OS, I was particularly concerned ensuring the correct ICL size would be selected if the candidate proved to be a candidate for the procedure. OCOS suggested 12.6 mm size for both eyes.
Approach
I utilized UBM AI + ICLguru on both eyes to see which ICL sizes would be recommended (pre-ICLguru Pro).
ICL Sizing
The ICLguru report showed that either 12.1 mm or 12.6 mm would yield acceptable results for vault and angle in both eyes. Due to my concerns related to the slightly narrow angle of the patient’s left eye, I chose to implant 12.1 mm in the left eye and 12.6 mm in the right eye.
Results
2-hour and 1-day post-op results showed good agreement with predictive vault and angles remained acceptable.
Conclusion
The data presented by UBM AI + ICLguru helps me have confidence in applying my own judgement in special cases such as shallower ACDs, narrower angles, high-powered lenses, etc. so that I can ensure ICL is a safe and effective option and that optimal lens size is chosen.
