August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month

With the new school year right around the corner, it’s so important that parents have their children’s eyes examined. This is because children are susceptible to a host of vision and eye problems such as injury, infection, and increased nearsightedness

Some common childhood eye problems that can be detected include:

Nearsightedness

Farsightedness

Amblyopia (lazy eye)

Strabismus (crossed or misaligned eyes)

Ptosis (drooping of the eyelid)

Color deficiency

In support of Children's Eye Health and Safety Month this August, Sonomed Escalon reminds, It’s never too early to get your child’s eyes checked. Children develop their visual system throughout childhood, and the first year of school is a perfect time to check their eyesight
