In almost all cases, despite the circumstances of the injury and symptoms, severe eye injury requires an ultrasound examination. This study will determine the severity of eye injury, the presence or absence of a foreign body.

Ultrasound examination (B-scan) of the organ of vision determines condition of the vitreous body and retina, determines the size of the existing retinal detachment and impaired blood supply.

This scan has increase diagnostic value and is especially important in the presence of opacities in optical media in which ophthalmoscopy of the fundus cannot be performed.
