Back volunteering with Sharing Excess 💚

This year, the Sonomed Escalon team returned to support an incredible mission — rescuing surplus food and getting it to people who need it most.

Working side by side sorting fresh produce, we saw firsthand how quickly surplus can turn into real impact. In just one day, our team helped sort over 6,000 lbs of food — with 3,534 lbs rescued, creating the potential for 2,827 meals for Philadelphia communities. At the same time, 2,534 lbs were responsibly repurposed for compost or animal feed, and nearly 13,000 lbs of greenhouse gas emissions were prevented.

The most meaningful part? The food we helped sort became part of someone’s family meal that same day — or will be very soon.
