Recently, I had the privilege of representing Sonomed Escalon at Boston Children’s Hospital — a place that embodies hope, healing, and innovation. Together with John Paul Dogum, a valued member of our Board of Directors, we proudly presented a donation of our state-of-the-art VuPad ultrasound device to the Ophthalmology Department. This gift is more than technology — it’s an investment in the mission of restoring and preserving sight for children, and in the extraordinary clinicians who make that mission a reality every day.

We were honored to present the VuPad to:

David G. Hunter, MD, PhD — Ophthalmologist-in-Chief and the Richard M. Robb Chair of Ophthalmology at Boston Children’s Hospital, President of the Children’s Hospital Ophthalmology Foundation, and Professor and Vice Chair of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Current President of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

Nimesh Patel, MD — Ophthalmologist and Director of Pediatric Vitreoretinal Surgery, Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School.

Special thanks to Katie Minetti, Director, Principal and Major Gifts at Boston Children’s Hospital and Traci Finkel, Executive Assistant to Dr, Hunter for facilitating and organizing this donation and visit.

This moment also holds deep personal meaning. My daughter, Cara D. DePiano, completed her Administrative Leadership Fellowship at Boston Children’s and now serves as a Project Manager in the Department of Accountable Care & Clinical Integration. Her experience was transformative — for her career and for our family.

We are deeply grateful to Boston Children’s Hospital for the incredible work they do — not just for this community, but for children and families around the world.

From all of us at Sonomed Escalon: thank you for the difference you make.

Chief Executive Officer
